As we get older and gain more
life experience, do we take life for granted? Do we take pleasure in our
surroundings, do we notice daybreak and sunset? Do we notice how the flowers
begin to bloom and reach towards the sky and how the petals open up to the glorious
rays of sunshine.
We begin a working life and refer
sometimes as joining the rat race. Do we take for granted that we are in employment?
Do we feel tired and rundown, holding down a job, taking care of our family, do
we sometimes lose direction of where we are going?
Do we sometimes down the line
lose sight of the hopes and dreams that we held close to us in our ‘younger’
years? As we get older we tend to say things such as “I can’t believe where the
time has gone” or we will say “I can’t believe I am now classed as middle
aged”.
Some say life is just what you
make it. Some say life is getting me down. Some say life is great and I can
achieve whatever I set my mind to.
The digital age is marvellous,
but does too much use of looking at a mobile phone screen isolate us from
getting out and about and reaching our full potential. We have 24-hour
television, but again we are looking at a screen. Maybe put the radio or CD
player on and listen to some uplifting music. Let us wake up and never lose
sight of life and its true beauty.
Each and every one of us are here
on Planet Earth to learn, to grow, to develop new skills, to encourage others,
to give love and friendship to family and friends.
Try to begin your day by being
thankful, be grateful that the sun has risen. Be joyful that we have food on
the table. Smile at people who you meet, help those who are struggling.
Most importantly is to be kind to
yourself. Say to yourself that you are “special” and you are going to enjoy
each and every day to its fullest.
